TOWN OF AMSTERDAM TO PRESENT COMPREHENSIVE PLAN PROGRESS AND HOST COMMUNITY WORKSHOP
The public is invited to the Amsterdam Town In Motion: Comprehensive Plan Presentation and Action Plan Workshop on November 9, 2026 at Fire Station No. 1, 4 Fort Johnson Ave, in Fort Johnson Amsterdam, NY October 23, 2026 – The Town of Amsterdam will present a progress update and host a public workshop on Monday, November 9, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Fire Station No. 1, located at 4 Fort Johnson Ave, Fort Johnson, NY 12070. The community is invited to attend to learn more about the Plan Update including key findings and to participate in a workshop about the Town’s future land use recommendations. This event is part of the Town’s ongoing process to update its Comprehensive Plan.
Residents, business owners, and those interested in helping shape the Town’s land use future are encouraged to join the Town’s Comprehensive Plan Working Group and contribute their ideas to help shape the Town’s future. Town Supervisor Tom DiMezza said, “Over the past nearly twelve months, the Town has made significant progress to update the comprehensive plan. Our work has been built around robust public engagement as well as substantial effort by the Working Group to guide the process. We are now at a point where we’re inviting the public to learn more about the results of these efforts. All are welcome to join us on November 9th.”
Attendees on November 9th can expect a presentation regarding the Town’s Comprehensive Plan Working Group’s efforts and results, including input from stakeholders, the June 2026 public Open House held earlier this year, and the Community Survey. The presentation will include a discussion of the vision, goals, and objectives to guide the Town’s land use for the next 20 years. There will be time for questions and answers as well as dialogue regarding the plan for implementation and recommended actions. This meeting is among the final steps before the updated Draft Comprehensive Plan is provided to the Town Board for consideration of its adoption.
